Description

Not to be confused with the enemy Phantom Shark, the Ghost Shark is a Fish that can be caught in Dredge.

It is an Abyssal fish and can be caught at any time of day.

Although the Encyclopedia lists it as a Devil's Spine fish, the Ghost Shark can be found extensively throughout the southern Open Ocean between the Stellar Basin and Gale Cliffs.

*As of File Version 2021.3.5.60218, a Ghost Shark fishing spot has been added near the altar at P14 in the Devil's Spine that requires one for the Flames of the Deep Quest.

Fishing

Real-Life Counterpart

  • The Ghost Shark (Chimaera monstrosa), also known as the Ratfish, is a cartilaginous fish found in deep waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It has a slender, elongated body with a pointed snout and a long, whip-like tail. Ghost Sharks can grow up to 1.5 m (5 ft) in length. Unlike true sharks, they have a single gill opening on each side of their head. Ghost Sharks are not dangerous to humans and are rarely encountered due to their deep-sea habitat. Their populations are not well-studied, but they are not currently considered threatened.

Trivia

  • Because of the few locations near the Rock Slab, the Ghost Shark is the only fish to appear in more than one region (excluding Open Ocean)
