- The Chambered Nautilus (Nautilus pompilius) is a marine mollusk found in the deep waters of the Indo-Pacific region. They have a distinctive spiral shell with internal chambers that they use to control their buoyancy. Chambered Nautiluses can grow up to 20 cm (8 in) in diameter. They are slow-moving and primarily feed on crustaceans and small fish. Chambered Nautilus populations are vulnerable to overfishing for their shells, which are prized as collectibles.
