Description
Research Parts are needed to research and unlock equipment. They can be found while dredging, or bought from the Travelling Merchant.
62 Research parts are necessary to research and unlock all equipment, not including DLC.
Dredging
When dredging for the Research Part, you can make out its outline in the dredging minigame.
Locations
- Sold by the Travelling Merchant
- Random chance to appear while Dredging
- Dredged up from their own unique golden Dredge locations
- Given as a reward for numerous Pursuits
- Exchanged for dog tags by the Airman
- Salvaged from shipwrecks
- Caught in Crab Pots
Tips
- You can farm the Travelling Merchant for research parts. You will need to save and quit, then buy the research part, sometimes there are 2 parts for sale, repeat the process as many times as needed.
- Another way to efficiently get research parts is by running through the loop at Steel Point. Upon dredging the three Cloth, Wood, and Metal Scrap locations, as well as the wood location around the island (at the South-Eastern portion of L10), players may gain a significant amount of research parts alongside other necessary materials.
Trivia
- As of the Iron Rig DLC, Research Parts can now be found in Crab Pots
- Though it's hard to see in its inventory slot, you can see the Research Part's glow in its dredging minigame.
