The Iron Rig is a dockable location that will be included in The Iron Rig DLC. The player will deliver materials to the Foreman, unlocking access to more tabs on the Iron Rig's menu. The Iron Rig is the location where much of the DLC's story will take place, as well as the location where the player will gain access to the new upgrades to their hull, equipment and abilities.

Speculation

In the Steam Store screenshot below, the Foundry has a hyphen next to its tab, implying it yet to be upgraded, whereas the Factory has the number one in roman numerals. It would seem that the main gameplay loop of the DLC will be to collect materials to upgrade these buildings, thereby unlocking more quests to unlock more equipment and upgrades.
