Real-Life Counterpart

• The Stargazer (Uranoscopidae spp.) is a benthic fish found in shallow waters around the world. It has a large, flattened head with upward-facing eyes, giving it a unique appearance. Stargazers can grow up to 50 cm (20 in) in length. They are ambush predators, burying themselves in sand or mud with only their eyes and mouth visible, waiting to strike at passing prey. Some species of Stargazers are equipped with electric organs, capable of delivering a shock to potential threats. Stargazers are not considered endangered, and their populations are stable.
