- Wolffish, belonging to the family Anarhichadidae, are distinctive marine fish found primarily in the cold waters of the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. Known for their elongated bodies and large, powerful jaws, Wolffish can grow up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) in length. They are easily recognizable by their prominent, fang-like teeth, which are adapted for grasping and consuming prey such as sea urchins, crustaceans, and other hard-shelled organisms. Wolffish have smooth, scaleless skin, which is typically brown or bluish-gray, providing them with camouflage against the rocky ocean floor. These fish are primarily benthic dwellers, often found at depths ranging from 30 to 800 meters (98 to 2,625 feet), and they play a crucial role in their ecosystems by helping control populations of their prey species.
