Piranha
The Piranhas serve as eyes for the Unseeing Mother. They are usually seen swimming in a swarm under the water, their glowing red giving away their identity. They are mostly stationary, only leaving their swarm when a vessel comes near. Most swim a small circle around a fixed point, but there are a few that continually follow the Unseeing Mother everywhere she goes.
Their attacks to the Boat deal no damage, but instead slow the player down more and more with each piranha. More dangerously, they alert the Unseeing Mother of the boat's location, signalling her to come and attack.
Once 6 Piranhas attach to the boat, the engines are entirely nullified and the player speed is reduced to 10kn (not including Books), leaving the player unable to escape the Unseeing Mother without the use of Banish.
Although the piranhas can be banished, this is very temporary, and they will return shortly afterwards. The piranhas are also vulnerable to the undersea volcanic vents that can be found throughout Devil's Spine. Although the boat can pass over these vents unharmed, the piranhas will be scalded by the boiling temperature and quickly retreat.
