Real-Life Counterpart
- The Fangtooth (Anoplogaster cornuta) is a deep-sea fish known for its disproportionately large teeth, which are the largest relative to body size of any fish. Found in deep waters worldwide, the Fangtooth has a dark, spiny body and can reach lengths of up to 18 cm (7 in). Despite their terrifying appearance, Fangtooths are harmless to humans. Their ability to survive at extreme depths makes them a subject of scientific interest. They are not currently considered at risk, as their deep-sea habitat shields them from human activities.
