• The Snake Mackerel (Gempylus serpens) is a slender, predatory fish found in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide. It has a long, ribbon-like body with sharp, fang-like teeth that it uses to capture prey. This species can grow up to 1.5 m (5 ft) in length and weigh around 2.5 kg (5.5 lb). The Snake Mackerel is not known to pose a threat to humans, though its diet primarily consists of other fish. It is often caught as bycatch in commercial fishing operations, but its population is not currently under threat.
