• The Tarpon (Megalops atlanticus) is a large, silver-colored fish found in the Atlantic Ocean, known for its powerful leaps out of the water when hooked. It has a long, streamlined body with a large, upward-facing mouth. Tarpon can grow up to 2.5 m (8.2 ft) in length and weigh around 161 kg (355 lb). Although not typically consumed due to its bony flesh, the Tarpon is highly prized by sport fishers. Overfishing and habitat degradation are concerns for this species, and it is currently listed as vulnerable.
