• The Giant Amphipod (Alicella gigantea) is a large crustacean found in the deep-sea trenches of the Pacific Ocean. It has a semi-transparent body with elongated limbs and can grow up to 34 cm (13 in) in length, making it one of the largest amphipods known. These creatures are scavengers, feeding on detritus and the remains of dead animals that sink to the ocean floor. The Giant Amphipod's extreme habitat makes it difficult to study, but they are not currently threatened by human activities.
