Real-Life Counterpart

• The Blue Crab (Callinectes sapidus) is a commercially important crustacean found in the western Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. It has a blue-green shell and sharp, spiny legs, with males exhibiting a more intense blue coloration on their claws. Blue Crabs can grow up to 23 cm (9 in) across the shell. They are a key species in coastal ecosystems, feeding on a variety of organisms. While Blue Crabs are heavily fished, their populations are managed to ensure sustainability, and they are not currently endangered.

Trivia

• The Blue Crab and the Crown of Thorns are the only crabs that have identical spawn regions and depths, excluding DLC. (The Pale Reach region is all the same depth, so both crabs there have identical depth requirements by default.)
