Real-Life Counterpart
- The Sailfish (Istiophorus platypterus) is a fast and agile predator found in warm waters around the world. It is known for its long, slender body, sharp bill, and distinctive dorsal fin that resembles a sail. Sailfish can reach speeds of up to 68 mph (110 km/h), making them one of the fastest fish in the ocean. They can grow up to 3.4 m (11 ft) in length and weigh up to 90 kg (200 lb). Sailfish are highly prized by sport fishers due to their speed and acrobatics when hooked. Their populations are currently stable, although they face threats from overfishing.
Trivia
- Before the Iron Rig DLC, the Sailfish is the only non-exotic fish that is six cargo slots long.
- Alongside the Hammerhead Shark, the Sailfish holds the largest number of inventory slots for a single fish, outside of DLC.
