The Gulper Eel is an Exotic Fish that can be caught in DREDGE.

The Gulper Eel must be caught as part of the Recording Rarities Pursuit given by the Travelling Merchant.

The Gulper Eel can only be found in one location. Its fishing spot is located within the Stellar Basin above the trench that leads from the northeast entrance to the deep hole where the Stellar Basin Creature resides. Once the singular eel has been caught, the fishing spot will never be replenished unless an Exotic Bait is used in the same area.

• The gulper eel, scientifically known as Eurypharynx pelecanoides, is a fascinating deep-sea fish found in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans, typically at depths ranging from 200 to 2,000 meters (656 to 6,562 feet). Characterized by its extremely elongated body, which can reach lengths of up to 4 meters (13 feet), the gulper eel has a large, expandable mouth that resembles that of a pelican, allowing it to consume prey much larger than itself. Its skin is smooth and dark, providing camouflage in the dimly lit depths of the ocean. Gulper eels primarily feed on small fish and squid, employing their wide mouths to gulp in prey with minimal effort. Despite their size and unique adaptations, gulper eels are rarely observed by humans due to their deep-sea habitat, making them elusive and enigmatic creatures. They are not considered a target for commercial fisheries, and their population status remains poorly understood.
