• The Stingray (Dasyatidae spp.) is a flat, cartilaginous fish found in both saltwater and freshwater environments around the world. They have a flattened, disc-shaped body and a long, whip-like tail equipped with one or more venomous spines. Stingrays can grow up to 2.5 m (8.2 ft) across and are known for their graceful swimming. They feed on bottom-dwelling invertebrates such as mollusks and crustaceans. While stingrays are generally not aggressive, their sting can be painful and potentially dangerous to humans. Stingray populations are stable, though some species are threatened by habitat loss and overfishing.
