• The Squat Lobster (Galatheoidea spp.) is a small crustacean found in oceans around the world, particularly in deep-sea habitats. They have a flattened body, long claws, and can grow up to 15 cm (6 in) in length. Despite their name, Squat Lobsters are more closely related to hermit crabs than to true lobsters. They are scavengers, feeding on detritus and small organisms. Squat Lobster populations are generally stable, though they are sometimes affected by deep-sea fishing practices.
