- The Oceanic Perch (Helicolenus dactylopterus) is a small, deep-sea fish found in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. It has a reddish body with large eyes adapted to the low-light conditions of its deep-sea habitat. Oceanic Perch can grow up to 40 cm (16 in) in length and weigh around 1 kg (2.2 lb). This species is often caught as bycatch in deep-sea trawling operations. Despite this, their populations are considered stable, and they are not currently at risk of overfishing.
